Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or the demonstrated equivalent in directly related work experience.
  • 5-7 years’ experience leading a Plant Maintenance Department, preferably in a food processing environment.  Experience working in a union environment helpful.
  • Technical skill requirements including PLC Control Systems, Utility Systems (compressed air, boilers,), packaging and conveyor equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in a Continuous Improvement environment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiating / influencing skills.
  • Strong computer application skills, network and PC business application software.
  • Basic financial skills and understanding.
Responsibilities: 
  • Lead and direct salaried and hourly team members of the Maintenance Department in their roles and responsibilities to meet facility objectives
  • Manage day-to-day and strategic maintenance activities to achieve key business results.
  • Direct plant maintenance programs to generate cost improvements in assets, processes, and material usage to reach annual performance goals.
  • Provide technical support and training for effective troubleshooting / problem solving activities and maintenance repair to maximize efficiencies and minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accountability for all on-site maintenance related contract service providers
  • Provide leadership in the implementation and maintenance of preventive and predictive maintenance programs.  Perform follow-up analysis to identify and resolve recurring maintenance reliability issues.
  • Responsible for the utilization of a computerized maintenance management system to manage and track preventative maintenance plans and corrective maintenance work orders. 
  • Develop and implement the maintenance and capital budgets and manage department / project costs within budgetary guidelines. 
  • Develop and maintain plant capital project plan
  • Responsible for overseeing local capital project requests and project completion
  • Ensure all plant equipment, utility and structural technical documentation is properly maintained
  • Collaboration with other functional managers and team members to achieve common plant goals
  • Drive continuous improvement of plant processes and other cost reductions.
  • Drive employee engagement, training, and development to maximize production, safety, quality, cost and customer service objectives attainment.
  • Ensure Company policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to within the department and facility.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local building / mechanical codes, health & safety regulations, environmental laws, and insurance company standards.
