Wanted: A regional leader in animal feeds is seeking an account management professional with experience managing the sale of pet food, horse feed or backyard animal feed to chain store accounts.  This person will work out of the corporate offices with minimal travel.  In this role, you will work for an established brand of equine, pet and show animal feeds as the key point person managing the relationship with key retail accounts, driving increased sales in those accounts, and resolving distribution/quality concerns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the new key account set up process and support leadership during sales process
    • Identify prospective key accounts, gather preliminary information, set up initial meetings with key stakeholders internally and with the prospect, and prepare meeting presentations
    • Work with President, VP Sales and VP Business Development to set-up new key accounts and deliver a seamless onboarding process
    • Onboard new locations for existing accounts; assist with grand openings and celebratory events
  • Manage existing key accounts to deliver best in class service
    • Resolve quality concerns, pricing issues, and other customer issues
    • Manage distribution, sales data, and returns with key accounts including credit processing
  • Deepen relationships with existing key accounts to drive sales growth
    • Regularly communicate with key account leadership/buyers to further develop relationships and identify growth opportunities
    • Create systems for evaluating success store-by-store, by brand or by SKU
    • Drive incremental sales with established distributors/chain stores by introducing new products, promotions, marketing materials and store level training
    • Work with marketing to create tailored retail marketing programs for key account stores (e.g. Point-of-Sale materials, in store displays, in store training, launch events etc.)
    • Create online training for retail sales reps and create an incentive program for retail sales reps to complete training

Required Experience
  • 5+ years of experience managing the sales/account management process with chain stores/distributors selling equine, backyard animal or pet related products OR 5+ years of experience managing CPG sales to chain retailers.

Preferred Experience would include any of the following:
  • Retail management
  • Pet food, backyard animal feed or horse feed sales experience
  • Account Management experience
