Our West Michigan client is looking for a talented EHS professional to manage the programs at their primary plant in the Pentwater area, as well as their finishing plant in Holland, Michigan. Typically, Travel to the Holland plant is one day per week.  In general, this heavy manufacturing industry company is looking for a dynamic professional capable of influencing all levels within the organization for maximum engagement, in addition to moving compliance performance to the next level.  This is very much a hands-on, plant floor oriented EHS expert and mentor role!

Responsibilities of the EHS Manager role:

Firstly, the qualified candidate for the EHS Manager should have prior manufacturing experience. Particularly, you are passionate about leveraging your  influence to enhance the safety culture at two Michigan facilities. This position implements programs associated with the operation and maintenance of the foundry. Specifically including the permitting process, auditing and inspections. The EHS Manager ensures the timely preparation and reporting of documents all  proper governmental agencies. In addition, safety initiatives are also a primary focus for this position. In example, providing guidance on equipment specifications to prevent unsafe work environments is key. Moreover, maintaining facility emergency action plans and conducting periodic drills is essential. Coordinating the employee safety committee and ensuring training and certifications are current is also critical. The EHS Manager also ensures appropriate training in areas as wastewater, forklift and PPE. Finally, you provide daily guidance to ensure a common and effective approach to safety.

Required Qualifications of the EHS Manager role:

The ideal candidate for the EHS Manager role possess a B.S. in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or related health sciences. In addition, 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in EHS is required, preferably in manufacturing.  10+ years of production experience in a management position will put you ahead. Familiarity with foundry processes such as green sand molding or cupola melt is a plus.
