Requirements to be considered for the Health, Safety and Environmental Manager:

  • Bachelors of Science in technical discipline or engineering
  • 5+ years HSE management experience (manufacturing environment)
  • Process Safety Management experience in conjunction with Safety Management experience is a must!
  • CSP or CEP certification is a strong plus
  • Process Safety Management experience preferred
  • Hazardous Waste and waste minimization experience preferred
  • Must be able to work independently and have strong communication skills

Responsibilities for the Health, Safety and Environmental Manager:

  • Reports into the VP level – high visibility role!
  • Responsible for strategic direction and oversight of the HS&E programs, standards and work process implementation to ensure the business objectives for safe operation are achieved and the license to operate is maintained.
  • Full accountability for Safety Standards and HS&E work processes.
  • Sponsors improvement and optimization of HS&E activities and programs.
  • Oversees, ensures preparation for and participates in HS&E related audits.
  • Implements self-assessments to monitor critical systems (e.g. MOC, permitting, compliance tasks, etc.)
  • Interfaces with regulatory authorities to ensure compliance and required reporting.
  • Manages all applicable permits and regulatory registrations for the facility, including submittal of applications for new/modified equipment or projects, requests for permit changes and/or permit renewal applications, product registrations, etc.
  • Ensures required training for employees is completed and relevant training records and documentation is maintained.
  • Determines appropriate retention times and insures necessary documentation is maintained for all HSES related records.
  • Leads follow up actions and ensures timely completion for regulatory and HS&E related audit findings.
  • Participates in root cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Engages external HS&E consultants and expertise as needed to obtain interpretations and guidance on specific regulatory processes, laws, regulations, etc.
  • Sponsors and coaches the plant HS&E team, consisting of members from Operations, Maintenance and Administration to ensure engagement and ownership across the organization.
